Sweet. No, sour. No... tangy? Hmmm, I know that smell. Why can’t I place it? I walk a little closer, letting my nose lead the way... ORANGE CHICKEN! I knew I recognized that smell. It’s orange chicken and it’s drafting my way from Panda Express. I look up and I see a group of smiling friendly faces. They’re waving me over... wait, I know them! It’s my friends from Circle K, that great volunteer organization that I’m in. They always seem to have such fun events. I go over to them and ask “What’s up? Why are you all hanging out at Panda Express?” And they tell me that they are having a fundraiser there! All I have to do is purchase some food from Panda and some of the profits will go straight to the club – more specifically, to this group known as The Trevor Project. They told me that The Trevor Project is a group that helps LGBTQ students in need. How could I resist that? Plus, I was pretty hungry...
So I get in line for some Panda Express with some other friends and purchase a nice, delicious plate and don’t feel guilty at all for eating unhealthy food when it’s for a good cause! Plus, I got to sit down with my friends and chat and rant about my week and listen to others. It was a really good environment and I can’t believe something so simple (like buying dinner) was helping other people.
