Meet our first senior stepping into the spotlight!

Ethan Vuong graduated with a major in Biology and a minor in Digital Humanities this past winter quarter and plans to pursue a career in User Experience Design. He likes drawing, singing, watching k-dramas and anime, swimming, playing board games!

Q: What is the funniest short story you have from your time at Circle K?

A: A funny story was when we were playing Assassins during my freshman year and I had sprained my ankle. I was eating with 3 other Circle K members, and while Christina, my CO chair on board, was helping me, she had to let go of her safety item (water). The other people who were eating with took that opportunity to kill her. I felt very bad, but it was also very funny.

Q: What has being in Circle K taught you, and how will you apply it to life beyond college?

A: Circle K has taught me not to be afraid of talking to people because so many people are truly kind and friendly. I learned how to make friends by talking to people of all different kinds of backgrounds and I'm sure I can use those skills to make friends in the future as well.

Meet our second senior spotlight!

Ryan Fang graduated with a major in MIMG (Microbiology, Immunology, and Molecular Genetics) this past winter quarter and plans to start looking for a job. One of his hobbies is art!

Q: What has being in CKI taught you, and how will you apply it to life beyond college?

A: It taught me that being organized is important. Never kept a planner past one week. Never had folders or binders. My MDE drive is pretty organized though.

Q: What advice would you give a new member?

A: Make sure you always prioritize school over CKI. General college advice for freshman: Online school is easy. It is not representative of in-person.

Meet our next senior stepping into our spotlight!

Jessica Doan is graduating with a major in MIMG (Microbiology, Immunology, and Molecular Genetics) and plans to work during her gap years before applying to graduate school. Some of her hobbies are baking and reading!

Q: What has being in Circle K taught you, and how will you apply it to life beyond college?

A: Circle K has taught me how to communicate with others. Communication is super important in life, so I will definitely be utilizing this wherever I go.

Q: What is the funniest short story you have from your time at Circle K?

A: We were playing assassins my first year and my family was super into the game. We told each other our targets so we would have more eyes. Noah’s target was Jonathan Fan and someone spotted him on Bruinwalk in a costume. He literally left his math lecture to kill him.

Time for another spotlight!

Sangeetha Ramachandran is graduating with a major in MCDB (Molecular, Cell, and Developmental Biology) and plans to take gap years and get more research experience before applying to graduate school. Some of her hobbies are reading, watching streams/Youtube/Netflix, and escape rooms! In her spare time you may also find her learning piano or hiking.

Q: What advice would you give a new member?

A: Don't be intimidated to go out to events! I know it feels like you don't know anyone and might feel lonely, but board and Circle K members in general are very welcoming, and the more events you go to, the more you'll find your Circle K family <3

Q: What is the funniest short story you have from your time at Circle K?

A: Red Heartthrobs and Exploding Kubbies had this one event where we made chocolate covered strawberries, which was really fun on its own. But specifically, Tabitha and Ivy were melting the chocolate by putting a pan of chocolate on top of a pan of boiling water. However, we forgot basic chemistry (the ideal gas law) and didn't turn down the heat. After the chocolate melted, Tabitha tried to move the pan with the chocolate, and the pressure gave way and the boiling hot water splashed everywhere (luckily no one was hurt). In an attempt to get the water vapor out, Justin went to open the window, and knocked over a potted plant. Tl;DR, we messed up Amir's apartment but he was super chill about it.

Meet our next senior stepping into the spotlight!

Ivy Lu is graduating with a major in MCDB (Molecular, Cell and Developmental Biology) with a minor in Biomedical Research and plans to take a gap year before applying to pharmacy school. Some of her hobbies are baking and arts and crafts! She's also a class A stationary hoarder ~

Q: What is your most memorable experience from UCLA Circle K?

A: This is kind of random, but the first thing that came to mind was a late night trip to get KBBQ in KTown with my first CKI family. It was just fun to get food and talk and get to know each other better.

Q: What has being in Circle K taught you, and how will you apply it to life beyond college?

A: I'm really shy, so I have a hard time meeting and talking to new people, but being in CKI has taught me to just reach out to someone if I'm interested in getting to know them. The worst they can do is not want to talk to me which is rarely the case with CKI members because everyone is super nice, and even then, it's not that big of deal. I'm definitely still super shy and awkward around new people, but it's definitely an improvement from before. Beyond college, I want to be able to reach out to new people whether for networking and just making new friends, and being in CKI has given a change to develop the interpersonal skills needed for that.

Brianna Brockman is graduating with a major in Biology and plans to apply to receive her training and license in Clinical Laboratory Scientist so she can work in Med Support as a CLS in hospital labs. Some of her hobbies are writing, anime, kpop, dance, and knitting. You can also find her playing lots of League of Legends or Minecraft in her spare time!

Q: What has being in Circle K taught you, and how will you apply it to life beyond college?

A: Taught me how to be more sociable with people I don’t know in order to make friends. I think that’s speaks for itself :D

Q: What is the funniest short story you have from your time at Circle K?

A: When I got bet $40 for double dare week to do standup comedy at meeting with only dad jokes. Considering I’m not funny at all, it was still pretty funny.

Kidding! Our final senior in the spotlight!

Tabitha Anctil is graduating with a major in Anthropology and a minor in History.
Q: What has being in Circle K taught you, and how will you apply it to life beyond college?
A: There is genuinely nothing more fulfilling than giving back to the community and putting good out there in the world, no matter how small you may think your actions are. I will continue incorporating volunteer work as a significant part of my life probably forever.

Q: What advice would you give a new member?
A: Put yourself out there! Get involved! Go to events even if you don’t know anybody there! You’ll make friends really easily if you just show up!
